In 1999, Justerini & Brooks celebrated its 250th anniversary. The company, originally a wine merchant, was founded in London in 1749 by Giacomo Justerini and George Johnson; in 1831, it became the property of Alfred Brooks, who changed its name to Justerini & Brooks. Brooks will soon begin buying whiskies from local producers and blending them. J&B 25 years old is a special edition released to celebrate the anniversary. It was created using 25 whiskies, 20 single malts and 5 single grain whiskies. The whisky is presented in a replica of the original bottle from the company's early days.
