Product description
Earl Magnus is the first chapter of the Orkneyinga Saga Trilogy as transmitted by Highland Park Distillery (the second being 12-year-old Saint Magnus and the third 18-year-old Haakon).
This limited edition (5976 bottles) from 2009 commemorates Prince Magnus, a 12th century ruler of Orkney described as “an extraordinary person, powerful in stature, great in dignity, strength and charisma”. His cousin Haakon, jealous of the sovereign’s growing popularity with the locals, ordered his assassination. Highland Park Earl Magnus is a whisky distilled in 1994 (and earlier) and aged for 15 years in American oak barrels and bottled at cask strength (52.6% abv). The edition is presented in replica bottles from 150 years ago.
