Glen Elgin Distillery, built in 1898, is located in the heart of Speyside, south of the town of Elgin.
Modernization carried out in 2012 increased the production capacity of the plant to 2.7 million liters of alcohol per year, the vast majority of which is intended for blending, especially the White Horse brand. Glen Elgin 16 years old Cask Strength hit the market in 2008 in the prestigious Diageo Special Releases series. The whisky was aged in European oak barrels, and the entire edition consisted of 9,954 bottles.
Nose: rich and deep, dried apricots, plums and figs, orange peel, vanilla, milk fudge, almonds, traces of cedar wood and minimal sulfur.
Taste: perfectly balanced, dark chocolate with orange peel, raisins, sweet cereals, honey-roasted nuts, vanilla, delicate notes of cedar, anise and nutmeg.
Finish: quite long, nutty, almonds, dark chocolate and oak.
