Product description
Glencadam Distillery is based in Brechin in the Eastern Highlands, close to the North Port distillery which has been closed for over 30 years.
The distillery has been distilling since 1825, but the first century of its existence was a constant struggle for survival. In 1954, the distillery was taken over by Hiram Walker & Sons and Glencadam whisky found its way into the formulas of popular Ballantine's and Teacher's blends. Since 2003, the distillery has belonged to Angus Dundee plc and fully utilizes its modest potential (1.3 million liters per year). Glencadam Reserva Andalucía is one of the company's latest offerings (2020), a whisky aged in bourbon and sherry casks and finished for about 12 months in Oloroso sherry butts.
Nose : vanilla pudding, brown sugar, buttered toast, milk fudge, nut nougat, bananas, plums, oak and a hint of cocoa.
Taste : mild and creamy, vanilla, toffee, ripe grapes, apples and peaches, sultanas, milk chocolate and banana cake.
Finish: medium long, with notes of ripe summer fruits, honey, vanilla, maple syrup and a subtle oak bitterness.
