Product description
Fèis Ìle (Islay Festival of Whisky and Music) is an annual event organised by the islanders since 1986.
It promotes Islay, its culture and historical heritage. Each of the local distilleries takes an active part in the event, usually honoring guests with the opportunity to buy a limited, commemorative edition of whisky. In 2022, Bunnahabhain Distillery has prepared three festival editions: Abhainn Araig, 1998 Calvados Cask Finish and Moine Tokaji Finish. The first of them is named after the Araig River (a tributary of the Margadale), from which the distillery draws water for production. This whisky is a blend of distillates aged in small "octave" casks of Pedro Ximénez sherry (European oak) and in bourbon casks. The drink was bottled at 50.8% abv without chill filtration.
Nose: pronounced notes of sherry, raisins and sultanas, dried dates, walnuts, milk chocolate, toffee, ginger powder and cedar cigar box.
Palate: rich and velvety, milk chocolate, vanilla cream, sherry-soaked raisins, raspberry mousse, orange peel, honey-roasted nuts, a drop of balsamic vinaigrette and a trace of oak.
Finish: quite long, with notes of sweet dried fruit, toffee, milk chocolate, cinnamon, sherry and oak.
