Product description
Bushmills whiskey labels proudly claim the year 1608 as its founding date and base the title of "world's oldest distillery" on a seven-year distilling licence issued to Sir Thomas Phillipps on 20 April 1608.
However, there is a small problem with the aforementioned nomination. The Old Bushmills Distillery Company was founded in 1784 and it is almost certain that the current Bushmills Distillery is its continuation. Bushmills is the only commercial whisky distillery in Northern Ireland today, equipped with 10 stills, producing 4.5 million litres of alcohol per year using the triple distillation method. The Bushmills German Pub Edition presented here is a whisky distilled in 1986 (Bushmills was then owned by Pernod Ricard) and aged for about 15 years in a bourbon cask no. 3425. The drink was bottled at cask strength 54.4% abv in 2001, and the edition consisted of 258 bottles.
