Highland Park 12-year-old (Bottled 1990s) / 40% / 0.7l
- Highland Park situated on the Orkney Islands is the northernmost distillery in Scotland.
Product description
Based in Orkney, Highland Park is Scotland's most northerly distillery.
Although the establishment, officially founded by David Robertson, has been operating since 1798, local businessman and smuggler Magnus Eunson had previously illegally produced whisky on the premises. For many, Highland Park is considered synonymous with quality, but its current fame is the result of a large investment by Highland Distillers, the then owners, in marketing the brand in 1979. Part of the strategy was the 12-year-old edition, made from distillates aged mainly in sherry casks, which still opens the company's offer. In the 1990s, many considered it the best single malt in its class.
Aroma: rich and complex with beautifully woven notes of sherry, heather, vanilla, honey, dried fruit, traces of pipe tobacco and peat smoke.
Palate : a wonderful combination of honey sweetness and peat smoke, raisins, breakfast cereals, candied orange peel and chocolate-covered hazelnuts.
Finish: long and rich, honey sweetness wrapped in peat smoke.
