Product description
Connoisseurs Choice is one of the oldest whisky series in the Gordon & MacPhail portfolio.
It debuted in 1968 at the initiative of George Urquhart, a representative of the second generation of the family, owners of the company Gordon & MacPhail, and a great visionary of whisky. At that time, most Scottish distilleries produced for the needs of blending companies, not even considering promoting their whisky in a single malt version. The Glendronach presented here is a memory from the old days; whisky distilled in 1955, when the distillery belonged to Charles Grant and distilled in a single pair of stills, and bottled after 27 years of maturation in oak barrels.
Nose: classic "old school", furniture polish, wax, dusty antique shop, old leather sofa, almonds, apples, grapes, honey, forest floor and a trace of cigar ash.
Palate: slightly subdued, stewed apples and plums, raisins, caramel, burnt bread crust, cinnamon, cloves, licorice, herbal tea, orange peel, black pepper, notes of wax and oak.
Finish : medium long, with notes of baked fruit, dried herbs, pepper, traces of pine resin, soot, leather and wax.
