Signatory Vintage was founded in 1988 by Andrew and Brian Symington and is now a leading independent bottler and distributor of whisky, respected by consumers.
Signatory has a tradition, much appreciated by whisky lovers, of labelling each cask strength edition with information on the type and number of cask, the date of filling, bottling and the number of bottles to which the release is limited. The Bowmore presented here, distilled on 13th March 2001 after a basic maturation in refill casks, finished for 25 months in a butt no. 106 sherry cask. Bottled on 21st August 2019 in the Cask Strength Collection for La Maison du Whisky in Paris in an edition of 692 bottles.
Aroma : fruity, slightly peaty, nectarines, oranges, lemons, pineapples, white pepper, notes of mint and thyme, vanilla, caramel, cocoa and a trace of licorice.
Palate: nicely balanced, red apples, pears, blood oranges, quince jam, honey, toffee, mixed dried herbs, pepper, sherry-soaked oak and a bit of smoke in the background.
Finish: medium long, with notes of peat smoke, honey, dark chocolate, black tea, lemons, licorice and a hint of leather.
