At the end of the 17th century, London was struggling with a crime epidemic on an unprecedented scale. One problem led to another – criminals caught red-handed were sentenced to prison, but due to the number of similar cases, every prison in the United Kingdom was overcrowded. Solutions were sought, but in the end, a rather bold move was made – a list of 19 crimes was created, for which one could be sentenced to exile to the then virgin Australia. The journey was long and dangerous, and at the end there was a great unknown.
From the late 17th century to the late 19th century, 162,000 men and women were punished and exiled to a remote island. The 19 Crimes series recalls the rather inglorious beginnings of present-day Australia, but also the stories of the people who were exiled to it.

Wine with an unusual character on the label, it depicts Michael Harrington, who became a famous convict thanks to his extremely daring escape from exile in Australia. In 1876, together with six other convicts, he made it through a powerful typhoon on a small rowboat, reaching an American whaling ship.
The vivid ruby color conceals aromas of currants, violets and berries, delicately underpinned by vanilla and a touch of earthiness. Full and rounded in the mouth, with a clearly marked sweetness, soft tannins and accents of dark cherries and chocolate. Long finish with accents of vanilla and sweet cherry.
