With global annual sales of 3.6 million bottles Aberlour is ranked number 8 on the single malt best selling list. The distillery core range includes Aberlour 12, 16 and 18 years old, all matured in combination of ex-Oloroso sherry and ex-bourbon casks. In November 2020 the company announced launch of Aberlour 14 years old as a part of the existing range, another expression matured in both ex-sherry and ex-bourbon casks. According to the company statement “Aberlour 14 years old fits harmoniously into our premium range; it combines excellent craftsmanship and experience with an understanding of a natural maturation process to create a unique single malt”. The initial batch will be available in the early December.
Nose: well-balanced, vanilla, honeycomb, ripe black cherries and plums, milk chocolate, hazelnuts and dash of cinnamon.
Palate: follows the nose, black currants, cherries, blackberries, honey, caramel, roasted nuts and almonds, hints of ginger and cinnamon.
Finish: fairly long, with notes of sweet ripe berries, honey, vanilla, dash of mixed spice and oak.
