Nevis Dew Blue Label debuted to celebrate the new millennium as Ben Nevis Millennium Blend.
While most whisky producers have offered expensive limited editions, usually based on old whisky, Ben Nevis Distillery owner Nikka Distilling Company has done the opposite, offering a blend without an age statement. Its formula remains a secret, although we can assume that the Ben Nevis single malt plays a key role in it. In 2000, Ben Nevis Millennium Blend won a gold medal at the International Wine & Spirits Competition (the first in the company's history), and shortly after the millennium celebration ended, it was introduced to the core range as Nevis Dew Blue Label.
Aroma : cereal and nut, breakfast cereal, vanilla, caramel, baked apples, grapes, a handful of herbs from the garden and a faint note of smoke.
Palate: barley malt, roasted nuts, orange peel, gooseberries, vanilla, milk chocolate, a pinch of nutmeg and delicate herbal and oak notes.
Finish: not too long, with notes of breakfast cereal, orange jam, mixed nuts and oak.
