Product description
The debut and immediate success of Taiwanese single malt Kavalan in 2008 shook up the whisky world.
The Omar presented here also comes from Taiwan, specifically from the Nantou Distillery belonging to the Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor Corporation (TTL), a major producer of cigarettes and alcoholic beverages. Nantou began operating in 1978, but began producing whisky exactly 40 years later. The malt is imported from Scotland, and due to the hot and humid climate, distillation takes place from October to April, which translates into about 500,000 liters of alcohol per year. Omar Single Malt Sherry Type, aged exclusively in sherry casks, debuted in 2015, and a year later won a silver medal at the International Wine & Spirits Competition.
