Product description
Dallas Dhu is another victim of overproduction on the whisky market in the early 1980s.
The distillery, built in 1898-1899, distilled for the last time in March 1983. Its modest capacity (750,000 litres of alcohol per year) and limited access to water made it an ideal candidate for closure during the crisis. Until the early 21st century, single malt Dallas Dhu was part of Gordon & MacPhail's regular range, with official releases only appearing in 1995 and 1997 in the Rare Malts series. The Dallas Dhu presented here is Gordon & MacPhail's 2014 offering in the Distillery Labels series. Distilled in 1980, the whisky spent over 30 years in refilled puncheon sherry casks.
Nose : subtle and elegant, delicate tones of sherry, green apples, pears, coconut, kiwi, vanilla, honey, traces of anise, mint and oak.
Taste : mild and fruity, oranges, bananas, baked apples, milk chocolate, sweet bread, a trace of marzipan, a hint of anise and oak.
Finish: quite long, the sweetness of vanilla and fruit balanced by the subtle bitterness of oak.
