The Macallan Horizon

Just when a person thinks that nothing in the world of whisky can surprise or delight him anymore - there is always someone or something that sets him in a daze. Not infrequently the culprit for such a condition is the Macallan distillery. This was also the case this time.
Lo and behold, photos and information on the latest exclusive edition of whisky from the distillery were published yesterday. And it's a whiskey in the case of which, for good measure, it would be enough to publish only photos, and it would already make quite a fuss.
The Macallan Horizon is a whisky created in collaboration with the Bentley Motors brand, offered in an unusual horizontal bottle inspired by the horizontal direction of motor vehicles. The whisky itself is a blend of the contents of six carefully selected first-fill sherry casks, and its intensity of flavor, texture and natural color are said to reflect, according to the producer, the unusual combination of The Macallan style and Bentley's quality and design. Containing rich notes of dried fruits and spices, it finds harmony with accents of oak and leather, which are not difficult to find in the world of Bentley.
According to the manufacturer, in its aroma you will find notes of resinous, polished oak, plums and cherries, fresh leather and a touch of herbal, leafy. In the second stage there are lots of notes of dried fruits - dates, raisins, raisins, followed by notes of sweet cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. On the taste we can expect accents of molasses syrup, toffee, crystallized ginger and grilled pineapple. Notes of sweet vanilla, fudge, dark chocolate, Brazil nuts and warming spices appear. The finish is long, rich and complex.
The bottle - if that word can still be used to describe the vessel in which the new whisky is offered - is extremely impressive. It is made of copper, aluminum, oak from the barrels from which the whisky came, and walnut veneer, which gently weave around the crystal bottle. The goal of the designers, the combined forces of The Macallan and Bentley Motors, was to create something never before seen in whisky bottle design, and at the same time something that reflects both brands' commitment to craftsmanship, creativity and innovation. Not insignificant is the fact that most of the materials used to create The Macallan Horizon bottle are recycled or from renewable resources.
Buying a single bottle, which are now hitting select specialty whisky stores, will mean an expense of around £40,000.
The Macallan is not the first time to shock with bold design and innovative designs. Not to look far, just look at the architecture of the new distillery, which opened in 2017, embedded in the hills surrounding the valley of the River Spey. Built at a substantial cost of £140 million, it arouses extreme emotions, but certainly leaves no one indifferent. Its vaulting alone has been recognized by architectural professionals as one of the greatest achievements in the field.
The current offerings of the House of Whisky Online include a huge selection of whiskies from the Macallan distillery, including specimens that are absolutely unusual and rare, which can become the ornament of the most exclusive collection. We invite you to visit and learn more about our offer.
