GlenDronach 1993 29yo Cask Bottling for House of Whisky

One of three whiskies recently selected and bottled specifically for the Whisky House is a beverage from one of the Highlands' best-loved distilleries, namely GlenDronach.
GlenDronach 1993 29yo Cask Bottling is a whisky distilled on June 11, 1993. It was bottled especially for the House of Whisky in 2023 in its most natural form. It has not been cold-filtered, it has not been colored with caramel, and its dark amber color comes only from long maturation in pucheon barrel No. 6738, which previously held Pedro Ximénez sweet sherry. The whisky has also not been diluted, which means that we are dealing with a cask strength liquor, which in this case means a strength of 53.3% vol. The content of the barrel was enough to fill 694 bottles.
In the bouquet of our whisky you can find touches of creamy cappuccino, dark chocolate-covered raisins, roasted almonds, vanilla. There will be herbal notes, mainly thyme and sage, in addition to cherries and ripe plums. The whole harmoniously combines accents of sweet dark fruits and spiciness of toasted oak. In the silky smooth, multilayered taste, we can expect notes of mocha, gingerbread with nuts, a touch of cinnamon, roasted butter, an abundance of dark fruits, especially plums and blackberries, roasted walnuts and tobacco leaves. Finish GlenDronach 1993 Cask Bottling for Dom Whisky is long, durable and rich. It begins with notes of honey and blackberries, and evolves into a subtle spiciness of spices with a pronounced nutty finish.
GlenDronach Distillery probably doesn't need to be introduced to anyone. However, it is worth recalling that it is one of Scotland's oldest distilleries, founded in 1826 in the village of Forgue in Aberdeenshire, a little west of the Speyside region's borders. GlenDronach is among a handful of distilleries whose products are primarily associated with maturation in sherry casks. Not surprisingly, then, for our whisky as well, the choice was ex-Pedro Ximénez sherry puncheon. In 2008, GlenDronach was bought by BenRiach Distillery Company, which was then headed by Billy Walker. From that period comes the distinctive and surviving spelling of the distillery's name, with a capital D in the middle. In 2016, both GlenDronach and Benriach and Glenglassaugh became part of the portfolio of US-based Brown Forman.
