GlenAllachie 2012 Cuvée Wine Cask Finish

GlenAllachie 2012 Cuvée Wine Cask Finish

Billy Walker, spiritus movens GlenAllachie, is unrelenting in its efforts to provide the growing crowds of admirers of this distillery with more and more new aroma and taste experiences in the form of more limited editions of whisky.

Another one is being premiered these days, GlenAllachie 2012 9yo Cuvée Wine Cask Finish, the whisky was first matured in bourbon barrels, before going into barrels for 20 months, previously seasoned with four types of red wine. These included Languedoc, Recioto Della Valpolicella and two Premier Cru class wines not disclosed by name.

The whisky spent a total of nearly ten years in casks (distillation 2012, bottling 2022) and was bottled - as befits GlenAllachie under Billy Walker - in the most natural form possible, that is, with no cold filtration and no caramel coloring. The strength of the liquor is 48% vol. No indication of the size of the limited edition, which should become available soon at a retail price of £53.99 per bottle.

The new whisky is expected to offer notes of orange blossom, espresso, candied Maraschino cherry, honeysuckle, candied stone fruit, hazelnut, lavender and cinnamon in its bouquet. On the palate, expect notes of dark chocolate, red currants, roasted coffee beans, almonds, blackberries, orange peel, ginger and licorice.

According to Billy Walker himself, the creation of this composition was made possible by his close contacts with producers of the best European wines, as well as his own innate inclination towards the art of buying. He succeeded, he says, in doing what many consider impossible - combining grain beverage with vine beverages, and achieving a truly heavenly effect.

The truth of these words will be convinced by all those who will acquire and taste the described whisky. However, if you are less interested in this edition, you can find in the current offer of the House of Whisky Online a wide selection of GlenAllachie. Both editions from before the advent of Billy Walker's reign and quite a few of those bearing his autograph on the label. We invite you to visit.
