Bowmore ARC 52

It may seem that in the field of packaging design, in which whisky is offered to us, especially its luxury editions, nothing can surprise anymore. If you think so, too, just a glance at a bottle of the latest Bowmore will make you realize how wrong we are. And let our admiration for it be expressed by the fact that for the first time we are writing first about the packaging and only then about the whisky itself, which is, after all, unexceptional.
Bottle - carafe, container? - has been designed in an ongoing collaboration with the iconic car brand Aston Martin for some time now. It was prepared by a team headed by Marek Reichman, Chief Creative Officer at Aston Martin. Only 100 such unique decanters were created and filled with equally unique whiskey.
Bowmore ARC 52 is a blended blend of 52-year-old whiskeys from the Bowmore distillery, aged in a sherry butt cask and an American oak hogshead cask that previously held bourbon. After coupage, the strength of the liquor was 42.3% vol.
Buying a single decanter from the series unveiled this morning costs £60,000.
The Bowmore Distillery, located in the heart of the village of the same name, the largest center on Islay, is the oldest whisky factory on the island. It is one of the few Scottish distilleries still in operation today, having been founded back in the 18th century, many years before the pivotal year of 1823, when the so-called Excise Act removed most of the barriers preventing the legal development of distilling. Situated on the very shores of Loch Indaal Bay, the distillery prides itself on having warehouses whose floor is below sea level and whose front wall is washed by the waves of the sea. We are talking about the famous No. 1 Vaults, in which a whole range of almost legendary whiskeys were matured, with Black Bowmore 1964 at the forefront. Although other Islay distilleries are being talked about more often and louder today, Bowmore proves time and again that it is a player to be reckoned with still.
Those interested in the products of this island distillery are encouraged to look between the shelves of the House of Whisky Online in search of our bowmore's current offerings. There will be whiskies for drinking with friends, as well as those that can become the undisputed highlight of the most sophisticated whisky collections.
