- “Laimrig” means “pier” in Gaelic and Bowmore Laimrig refers to stone pier on the shore of Loch Indaal where the distillery’s barley was unloaded in the past and Bowmore whisky first set sail for the world.

Laimrig translates from the Gaelic as “haven” and Bowmore Laimrig takes its name from the rocky haven on the shores of Loch Indaal where barley once came in and barrels of Bowmore whisky went out.
Laimrig debuted in 2009 in Sweden, but subsequent annual editions are available in leading Scotch whisky importing countries. The edition presented here is from 2014 and unlike the previous ones, it is not marked with a consecutive number. This 15-year-old whisky was aged in bourbon barrels, finished in sherry barrels and was bottled at 54.1% alcohol.
Aroma: smoke, cigar ash, caramel, honey, roasted almonds, cocoa, dried plums and raisins.
Taste: peat smoke giving way to salted caramels, roasted almonds and dark chocolate; noticeable raisins, cinnamon and ginger.
Finish: smoky, dry and spicy.
