Limited edition Millburn single cask offered by the renowned Douglas Laing & Co. in the prestigious Old & Rare Platinum Selection series .
Millburn Distillery closed in 1985 due to overproduction in the sector and three years later the distillery buildings were razed to the ground and the plot was sold to the Beefeater restaurant chain. The edition presented here is the content of one barrel filled in 1970, which after 34 years translated into 171 bottles of whisky. The drink is offered in a cask strength version (in this case 50.9% abv) and without chill filtration.
Nose: rich and powerful, candied orange peel, dried apricots and plums, chocolate, coffee beans, burnt toast, ginger, traces of peat and damp limestone.
Palate : rich, fruity and spicy, cherries, black grapes, bitter orange jam, vanilla cream, hazelnuts, white pepper, ginger and oak.
Finish : not too long, sweet and spicy, vanilla, pepper and oak.
