Product description
Girvan, built by William Grant & Sons, is a modern and highly efficient grain distillery capable of producing 120 million litres of distillate per year.
While most grain distilleries use corn as their main grain, Girvan’s formula lists 90% wheat and 10% malted barley. Single grain whiskies are considered second-rate spirits to single malts by many, but in recent years interest in the category has been growing. The Girvan Patent Still series by William Grant & Sons debuted in late autumn 2013. Its “swallow” was the 25-year-old, and a few months later came the 28-year-old, this time for exclusive distribution to Travel Retail. The spirits used in the blend came from the highest quality barrels made of white American oak.
Nose: excellent balance between vanilla, oak and spices, toffee, apples, peaches, bananas, pepper, ginger, traces of cloves and mint.
Palate: rich, slightly oily, vanilla cream, toffee, cappuccino, crème brûlée, banana cake, baked apples, peaches, candied ginger and subtle notes of oak and nuts.
Finish : long and rich, with notes of vanilla, oak, sweet spices and stone fruit.
