Product description
Nikka Distilling Company is the second largest producer of alcoholic beverages in Japan.
The company owns two distilleries in Japan (Yoichi and Miyagikyo) and one in Scotland, Ben Nevis. In 1963 Nikka purchased a couple of Coffey stills from Scotland and installed them in newly opened Nishinomiya Distillery. The first grain spirit came out from the still in October 1964. In 1999 Coffey stills and grain whisky production were moved to Miyagikyo Distillery. Nikka Coffey Malt Whisky was developed in 2013 as a result of the company’s continuous experiments to widen the product range. It is distilled from 100% malted barley in Coffey still and aged in American oak casks. Since it is not distilled in pot still it doesn’t fall into single malt whisky category.
