The Botanist Islay Dry Gin (Bruichladdich) / 46% / 0.7l
Product description
The Botanist Gin debuted in 2010 in the offering of Bruichladdich Distillery, producer of three unique single malts – Bruichladdich, Port Charlotte and Octomore.
Its formula features an impressive 31 botanicals, 22 of which come from the Isle of Islay. They are collected by two botanists, and it is to them that this gin takes its name. It is distilled in a Lomond pot still after overnight maceration of nine basic ingredients – juniper berries, cassia and cinnamon bark, coriander seed, lemon and orange peel, and angelica, orris and liquorice roots – in spirit and water. The alcohol vapors pass through a basket placed in the neck of the still, which contains the aforementioned 22 local ingredients – apple mint, chamomile, thistle, downy birch, elderberry, gorse, hawthorn, heather, juniper, common bedstraw, lemon balm, mugwort, spirea, red clover, garden mint, sweet cicely, marsh myrtle, common tansy, water mint, white clover, wild thyme and woody sage. The distillation of a single batch takes about 17 hours.
Botanist is a true work of art, a gin that is incredibly complex and perfectly balanced, floral and herbal, citrusy and spicy, a combination of over 30 ingredients, catalyzed by juniper. Botanist is a versatile gin, but we suggest tasting it neat or with ice.
