This is a rare and unique edition of Midleton whiskey. It was released in 2004, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the first Midleton Very Rare whiskey.
This limited edition contains spirits from both Midleton distilleries, the old one, where the museum is now located, and the new one, where the whiskey is distilled. Most of the spirits are produced using the pot still method, where malted and unmalted barley are used in the mash. The whiskey has been matured for 20 years in bourbon casks and Oloroso sherry casks. It is presented in a tasteful wooden box with crystal glasses. Only 400 of this exceptional spirit have been bottled.
Nose : mature and full with notes of burnt oak, leather, dried herbs, pear, apple, plum, chocolate, orange, dried dates, raisins and wood
Taste: intense and deep with notes of sherry, cappuccino, lemongrass, honey, vanilla, raisins, walnuts, oak and spices
Finish : long, rich and warming with tones of caramel, ripe fruit and oak.
