Product description
Thorfinn is the final chapter in Highland Park Distillery’s six-part Warrior Series saga . The whiskies in the series were inspired by heroes of Norse mythology.
Thorfinn, also known as the Mighty, was a Viking chieftain who gained power over the entire Orkney archipelago. He also liberated the inhabitants from the cruel rule of his brother Einar, which made him a beloved ruler. He was a man of great wisdom and mighty stature, the greatest of the great, and his remains rest in the crypt of St. Magnus Cathedral in the capital of Orkney, Kirkwall. The whisky bearing his name is made from distillates aged exclusively in sherry casks of European oak, of which about 60% are first-fill casks.
Nose: complex, vanilla pods, honey, flowering heath, oranges, mango, dried berries, cinnamon, nutmeg, cedar sap and delicate smoky-peat notes.
Palate: rich and elegant, honey, vanilla, toffee, fresh gingerbread, almonds, raisins, cinnamon, a hint of leather, sherry-soaked oak and subtle smoky notes.
Finish : very long, dark chocolate and candied ginger combined with oak bitterness and a delicate smoky-peat note.
