Tuthilltown Spirits LLC was an investment by Ralph Erenzo and Brian Lee in 2003. It was the first whiskey distillery to open in New York State since the end of Prohibition, although its first product was vodka.
Hudson whiskey joined the lineup soon after. In 2010, William Grant & Sons acquired the rights to the Hudson brand and its global distribution; seven years later, the Scottish company acquired the distillery, warehouses, and on-site shop and restaurant. Hudson Manhattan Rye is distilled from 100% rye and aged in barrels of varying sizes (from 3 to 30 gallons) for less than four years. Its name suggests its use in the Manhattan cocktail.
Aroma : rye and spicy, fresh pumpernickel, cinnamon, pepper, oak, notes of pine resin and oak chips.
Taste : cinnamon, cloves, pepper, allspice, cocoa powder, vanilla, oak chips and mint leaf.
Finish: medium long, with notes of cinnamon, pepper, fresh herbs and oak.
