Product description
George Dickel Distillery, based in Tullahoma, Tennessee, has been producing whiskey since approximately 1880.
In 2012, its current owner, Diageo, added rye whiskey to the brand. George Dickel Rye is not distilled in Tullahoma, but in the MGP distillery in Indiana. After a five-year maturation, the distillate is transported to a Diageo facility in Plainfield, Illinois, where it undergoes the charcoal mellowing process (filtration with charcoal). The final stage of production, bottling, takes place in Norwalk, Connecticut. George Dickel Rye is distilled from a mash consisting of 95% rye and 5% barley malt and is the only rye whiskey subjected to the charcoal mellowing process.
Nose : spicy-herbal, rye, dill, cloves, burnt toast, a hint of tobacco, vanilla, caramel, charred wood and shy fruity tones.
Palate : rye bread toast, cereal, cinnamon, allspice, ginger, caramel, vanilla and quite strong oak notes.
Finish: quite long, with a predominance of oak and spices interwoven with the delicate sweetness of vanilla and caramel.
