Amrut is the first Indian single malt whisky. It has been produced since 2004 at a distillery located in the city of Kambipura.
The name Amrut comes from Sanskrit and means "nectar of the gods" or "elixir of life". Barley grown in India is mainly used for production. Barley is imported from Scotland to compose peated editions. The Fusion version is the most popular edition of Amrut, which has been distinguished many times. The name Fusion refers to the combination of Indian and Scottish malts in the creation of this whisky. Amrut Fusion is twice distilled in copper stills and matured for 4 years in bourbon barrels made of American oak. It is bottled at 50% ABV and has been available on the market since 2009.
Aroma: deep and dense with notes of oak, barley, delicate smoke, vanilla, honey, baked apple, cinnamon and raisins
Palate: Rich and full with notes of peat, sherry, vanilla, barley, chocolate, fudge, malt, orchard fruit and spice
Finish: medium long and pleasant with accents of peat, oak wood and molasses
