Product description
Monkey 47 is a German gin distilled in the Christoph Keller distillery located in the Black Forest.
The history of gin begins in July 1945, when British Air Commodore Montgomery Collins arrived in Berlin as one of the British administrators. Collins was moved by the scale of the destruction of the city. He pledged his help in rebuilding the Berlin Zoo and sponsored a monkey named Max. After leaving the service, Collins stayed in Germany and opened a guesthouse in the Black Forest, where he also produced a delicious gin called "The Wild Monkey" in honor of Max. The production of gin continued until the 1970s. After 40 years, Alexander Stein from a famous family of distillers became interested in the history of gin and decided to recreate the legendary drink. He came to the Black Forest and together with Keller recreated the gin, calling it Monkey 47. The number 47 refers to the number of herbs, plants and fruits used in its production and the strength of the drink. The leading ingredients of gin are: juniper, lavender, musk mallow, Madagascar grasshopper, scarlet mint, spruce cones, marshmallow and coriander.
