Product description
In 2004, Nikka Distilling Company celebrated its 70th anniversary. The company was founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, who had previously worked for Shinjiro Torii.
Originally called Dai-Nippon-Kaju Ltd., it produced mainly apple juice. That same year, Taketsuru began construction of the Yoichi Distillery, which began producing whisky in the fall of 1936. In 1969, Nikka built another malt distillery, Sendai; when Nikka's assets were acquired by Asahi Breweries in 2001, it would be renamed Miyagikyo. In 1964, Nikka built the Nishinomiya Grain Distillery, equipped with Scottish stills, but these were moved to Sendai in 1999. Finally, since 1989, Nikka has owned the Ben Nevis Scotch Distillery and regularly uses the single malt there in its own blends. The set presented here contains four 700ml bottles of Nikka whisky:
Nikka Coffey Single Grain Whiskey 12 years old (58% abv);
Yoichi Single Malt Whiskey 12 years old (58% abv);
Miyagikyo Single Malt Whiskey 12 years old (58% abv);
Nikka Master Blender's Blended Whisky 12 years old, a blend of the three mentioned above (58% abv).
