Product description
Giffard & Cie is a renowned producer of liqueurs and bar syrups based in Avrillé in western France. The company was founded in 1885 by Émile Giffard in nearby Angers.
Émile, a graduate of the Pharmacy Department at the University of Poitiers and owner of a chemist's, experimented a lot with peppermint and in 1885, an unusually hot year, he developed the formula for Menthe-Pastille liqueur, suitable for serving both before and after a meal. The success of Menthe-Pastille was so great that Giffard ended his career as a chemist and bought a small distillery. Today, the fifth generation of the family manages the company, whose offer has grown over the years to over a hundred products. Key positions are held by Émile's great-great-grandchildren, Bruno Giffard and his sister Edith.
The Apricot Brandy presented here is made by macerating red apricots from the Roussillion region. It tastes like sweet apricot jam with a delicate almond note. The producer recommends it in the Paradise cocktail:
80ml gin;
30ml Apricot Brandy;
30ml orange juice;
10ml lemon juice.
