Natterjack The Mistake is an Irish whiskey with a history that began by chance. The first batch was aged in new American oak barrels longer than originally planned. The result turned out to be so interesting that the accidental experiment became the inspiration for a separate edition—playfully titled “The Mistake”.
Triple distillation gives the whiskey its smoothness, while extensive aging in fresh American oak gives it its bold, rich character. The aroma features roasted nuts, cinnamon, and oak notes, complemented by sweeter notes of vanilla and caramel.
On the palate, we'll find vanilla, molasses, toffee, and apple, accompanied by licorice, spices, and a distinct oak flavor. The 46% alcohol content further highlights the whiskey's body and intensity without detracting from its approachability, which is characteristic of the Irish style.
"The Mistake" shows that in the world of whiskey, not every mistake needs to be corrected. Sometimes it's worth just bottling it up.
