Product description
The Macallan Tales of The Macallan Volume II is one of the most exclusive Scottish single malt whiskies, created as a tribute to Alexandra Reida—founder of the legendary The Macallan distillery. This extraordinary edition, unveiled to mark the brand's 200th anniversary, tells the story of a man whose vision and pursuit of excellence shaped one of the world's most highly regarded distilleries.
Distilled in 1949 and bottled in 2022, The whiskey was aged for 73 years, developing exceptional complexity and depth. This is an extremely rare glimpse into The Macallan’s historic production methods, offering a chance to discover the character of a distillate created more than seven decades ago.
The history of Alexander Reid dates back to 1824, when he founded a distillery on the Easter Elchies estate in Speyside, Scotland. His belief in the importance of small stills and his uncompromising approach to quality became the foundation of The Macallan’s philosophy, which has been cherished by successive generations.
An exceptional whiskey deserves an equally exceptional setting. "Tales of The Macallan Volume II" is presented in a handcrafted crystal decanter from a French manufacturer Lalique, featuring illustrations by British artist Andrew Davidson. The decanter is hidden inside an impressive, exquisitely crafted almanac, whose illustrated chapters depict the life and legacy of the distillery's founder.
In the aroma of the whiskey, one discovers a wealth of forest fruits, sweet wood smoke, old oak, nutmeg, and cinnamon. The whole is rounded out by notes of vanilla, herbs, and dark toffee, creating an incredibly complex composition.
They unfold on the palate black cherries, plum jam, dark chocolate with orange, and almond pastries, accompanied by notes of ginger, cloves, a hint of smoke, and tea leaves. The finish is long, complex, and elegant, with a distinctive, subtle sweetness and a lingering hint of smoke.
Bottled with Power 44.8%, This whiskey maintains a remarkable balance between fruity depth, elegant wood notes, and a delicate smoky character that evokes the distillery's traditional style.
Only 344 bottles of The Macallan Tales of The Macallan Volume II were produced worldwide. It is not only one of the rarest whiskies in the brand’s history, but also a unique collector’s item that combines seven decades of aging, the art of Scotch distillation, the craftsmanship of French crystal, and the story of the man who started it all.
