Highland Park 40-Year-Old Spring 2023 Release is an extremely rare expression of this Orkney single malt, showcasing the patience, craftsmanship, and distinctive style of the Highland Park distillery.This whiskey was made from distillates that were set aside to age in 1981 and 1982, and the four decades spent in oak have given it exceptional depth while preserving its elegance and subtlety.

To create this edition, only five carefully selected hogshead casks made of European sherry oak, refilled.After nearly 40 years, the whiskey was transferred for seven months in first-fill European and American oak barrels previously seasoned with sherryfor seven months to enhance the notes of spices, fruit, and sweet vanilla.

The aroma opens with ripe black cherries and dark chocolate, accompanied by more subtle notes of oregano, mint, and fresh eucalyptus.It’s a rich, multi-layered bouquet in which the whisky’s age doesn’t mean the wood dominates—here, maturity meets fresh, herbal notes.

The flavor features sweet dried apricots, ginger, and cloves, complemented by deep notes of dark fruits, chocolate, and spices.Power 44.1% ensures that this 40-year-old distillate retains its extraordinary smoothness and harmony, while maintaining the right balance.

The finish is long, complex, and spicy—notes of cloves and mint return, enveloped delicate smoke from Orkney heather peat, which is one of Highland Park’s hallmarks.
