The Smokehead single malt is a 2006 release from Ian Macleod Distillers.This whiskey is in the same league as Peat Monster and Big Peat and competes effectively with them.
The High Voltage model featured here was added to the product lineup in the spring of 2018.We still don’t know which Islay distillery is behind “Smokehead,” but spokesperson Ian Macleod proudly stated that “Smokehead challenges the established order of the whiskey world, and the drink itself, along with its unconventional presentation, strongly appeals to young consumers, who are always ready to embrace such innovations.”.Smokehead High Voltage is bottled at 58% ABV and deserves to be called “Smokehead on steroids.”.
Aroma: intensely smoky and peaty, sea breeze, seaweed, vanilla, toffee, caramel, pepper, and notes of charred steak.
Flavor: smoky, slightly oily and alcoholic, salty nuts, cocoa powder, caramel, bitter oranges, and a slight mineral note.
Finish: quite long, smoky, with notes of dark chocolate with salt crystals, bitter oranges, and charred oak.
