Product description
The story of the Luigi Bosca winery is one of the most interesting stories of Argentine winemaking. The family-owned estate was founded in 1901 by the Arizu family, who came to Argentina from Europe and decided to take advantage of the extraordinary potential of the Mendoza region at the foot of the Andes Mountains. For more than a century, successive generations of the same family have developed the winery, staying true to the idea of creating wines that reflect the character of the place and the local terroir. To this day, Luigi Bosca remains one of the few large wineries in Argentina that is still in the hands of the same family, a symbol of continuity of tradition and quality.
Luigi Bosca's vineyards stretch across Mendoza's most prestigious subregions, such as Luján de Cuyo and Valle de Uco. Vines grow here at altitudes from about 800 to more than 1,200 meters above sea level, in a harsh, dry climate with a huge temperature amplitude between hot days and cool nights. Such conditions are conducive to slow ripening of the grapes and preservation of aromatic freshness. The soils are alluvial in nature - a mixture of sand, gravel and clay - which provides excellent drainage and forces the vines to root deeply into the soil. This results in wines that are intense, concentrated and clearly reflect the character of the terroir.
Luigi Bosca De Sangre Malbec 2023 is made from 100% Malbec strain, which in Argentina has achieved the status of almost a national symbol. The grapes come from high-altitude vineyards, m.in. from the Paraje Altamira area in the Uco Valley, where calcareous soils give the wine a distinct minerality and texture. After fermentation at a controlled temperature, the wine is aged for 12 months in oak barrels, and then rests for a few more months in bottles before going to market.
Appearance: deep, intense ruby-purple color with dark reflections, indicating the concentration and youthfulness of the wine.
Aroma: pronounced notes of red and black fruits - cherries, plums and blackberries - complemented by subtle minerality and accents of spice, coffee and light oak from barrel maturation.
Taste: a full-bodied and structured wine, with well-marked but elegant tannins and harmonious acidity; the mouthfeel is dominated by juicy fruit, accompanied by spice notes and a gently smoky touch of oak, all finishing with a long, velvety finish.
Culinary Connections: pairs particularly well with red meat - especially steak, grilled beef or game - as well as roasted vegetables and distinctive aged cheeses.
