Brandy Lepanto is produced in Jerez at bodega González Byass.The company was founded in 1835; its founder was Manuel Maria González Angel, who was soon joined by his British sales agent Robert Blake Byass.
The Byass family divested its stake in the company to the González family in 1998, making it the full owner of the.González Byass brandies have been produced since 1844 in the heart of the city of Jerez from locally grown Palomino grapes.Distillation takes place in traditional alembics, while maturation takes place in a solera system, in American oak barrels previously used to store sherry.The Lepanto Gran Reserva presented here, after a 12-year maturation in the solera system, was finished for another three years in Oloroso Viejo dry sherry barrels.
Aroma: roasted nuts and almonds, raisins, dark chocolate, honey, caramel, plums, blackberries, nutmeg, black pepper and a trace of leather.
Flavor: dark chocolate, walnuts and hazelnuts, raisins, plum jam, honey, coffee liqueur, allspice, pepper, notes of leather and oak.
Finish: medium long, dry, with notes of dark dried fruit, nuts, chocolate, pepper, nutmeg and oak.
