Product description

Donnafugata is one of Sicily's most recognized and fascinating family-owned wineries, with roots in the island's wine-making traditions dating back to the 19th century, but as a brand it has existed since 1983., when Giacomo Rallo and his wife Gabriella set themselves the goal of creating wines of the highest quality, going beyond the local production of the time and showing the world the unique potential of the Sicilian terroir. The name "Donnafugata," which can be translated as "fleeing woman," refers to the novel Il Gattopardo (Leopard) by Tomasi di Lampedusa and set in the Sicilian hills - as in this book - combining literary legend with the reality of the wine world. The brand has quickly become a symbol of the new wave of Sicilian wines, combining passion, vision and sustainable practices - the vineyards are run without herbicides and chemical fertilizers, protect the landscape and biodiversity, and Laura and Antonio Rallo (the next generation of the family) continue their mission of combining tradition with innovation. Donnafugata today encompasses more than 400 hectares of vines scattered across Sicily's various micro-regions-from the Marshal hills of Contessa Entellina to the coast of Pantelleria to the steep volcanic slopes of Etna-each location brings something unique to the brand's portfolio and tells its own terroir story.

Wine Bollicina Gold is the fruit of a unique collaboration between Donnafugata and the fashion house Dolce & Gabbana, where passion for Sicily, creativity and craftsmanship come together to create more than just wine - it's a celebration of style, local culture and artistry. The bottle of this unique liquor is decorated with a hand-applied gold label inspired by Dolce & Gabbana's luxurious Casa Oro24K collection, making it as beautiful to look at as it is to taste.

The grapes of Nerello Mascalese, from which it is made Bollicina Gold, ripen on the slope of the Etna volcano - a place where the land is mineral-rich, sandy and volcanic, and the climate combines continental and Mediterranean influences with large temperature amplitudes between day and night. The grapes are harvested by hand from high altitudes (above 500 m above sea level).p.m.) terraces surrounded by dry stone walls that protect the plants and help bring out their unique aromas.

Bollicina Gold is a sparkling wine using the classic (traditionelle) method, where the first fermentation is followed by a second fermentation in the bottle. The wine is aged on the lees for about 36 months, after which it is degorged and left for the next min. 12 months in bottle, which gives it a unique structure and complexity.

Appearance: in the glass presents itself in a shade of delicate antique pink with subtle golden highlights and a very fine, lasting perlage.

Aroma: the bouquet opens on notes of freshly baked bread crust and brioche, intertwined with citrus tones of lime and tangerine and aromas of red currant, which add lightness and finesse.

Taste: on the palate, the wine reveals the lively, crisp acidity and pronounced minerality typical of the Etna terroir, known as the Etruscan "volcanic vein," which creates elegant structure and length. The finish is clean, fresh and aromatic, with notes of citrus and delicate brioche.

Culinary Connections: Bollicina Gold is extremely versatile - it goes well with delicate crustaceans and seafood (shrimp, crawfish), fish tartare, raw prosciutto and light carpaccio, but it is also great as an aperitif or in the company of Mediterranean dishes served cold.
