The Elements of Islay is a series of single malt and blended malt whiskies from the Elixir Distillers portfolio dedicated to the legendary island of Islay.
It debuted in 2008 with the Lp1 edition. The “Islay Elements” are usually bottled at natural alcohol and without chill filtration, either as a single cask or small batch (made from no more than 20 casks). Elements of Islay Bourbon Cask was released in 2022 as part of a triptych that also includes the Sherry Cask and Cask Edit. This blended malt is made from distillates aged exclusively in first and refill bourbon casks and bottled at 54.5% abv, natural color and without chill filtration.
Aroma : sweet and smoky, iodine, lapsang souchong tea, vanilla sticks, caramel, lemon and orange peel, fresh herbs and a trace of wax.
Palate : vanilla, caramel, maple syrup, sponge cake, cappuccino, sugared nuts, apples, pears, lemongrass, tobacco and peat smoke.
Finish : medium long, with notes of peat smoke, vanilla, salted caramel, white pepper, ginger and oak.
