The series includes Glenfiddich Grand Cru 23 years old finished in French cuvée casks, Glenfiddich Grand Reserva 21 years old finished in Caribbean rum casks and the latest addition, Glenfiddich Grande Couronne 26 years old. The latter, vatting of Glenfiddich malt aged in European and American oak casks, was finished in rare cognac casks for two years. The name Couronne translates to ‘Crown’ and the whisky itself is a true promise of excellence. Glenfiddich has been number one best-selling whisky for years, in 2019 the brand sold over 18 million bottles, an increase by 9% comparing to previous year.
Nose: very elegant, toasted oak, buttered croissants, lemon meringue, honey, peaches, pears, honeydew melon, bunch of wild flowers and hints of beeswax.
Palate: smooth and pretty sweet, vanilla cream, milk chocolate, brown sugar, candied orange peel, banana bread, licorice, hints of white pepper and ginger and toasted oak.
Finish: pretty long, with notes of toasted oak, honey-roasted nuts, nectarines, plums and dash of mixed spice.
