Product description

The Michele Chiarlo Winery is a family-owned estate founded in 1956 by Michele Chiarlo in Monferrato.Today, the second generation—brothers Stefano and Alberto—is at the helm, but the spirit of the estate remains the same: elegance, balance, and a commitment to Piedmont’s grape varieties (Nebbiolo, Barbera, Cortese, Moscato).Over time, the family acquired vineyards in the most prestigious Barolo and Barbaresco crus, in the Nizza area, and in Gavi, developing a style based on precision and longevity.Their philosophy is “discipline in the vineyard and in the cellar”—the utmost care for the vineyard and the purity of the terroir’s expression.Palás Cerequio in La Morra has become a symbol of the house’s ambition—a historic estate and boutique relais nestled among Nebbiolo vines, where great vintages from Langhe producers age in the cellar.

Barbaresco Faset is one of the “MGA” (Menzioni Geografiche Aggiuntive)—strictly defined crus within the municipality of Barbaresco.Sam Faset is a steep southern slope whose western face opens onto the Tanaro River; the Chiarlo parcel is part of an approximately 3-hectare vineyard within Cascina Cabanet. This landscape is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the geology of the Langhe (Tortonian-era calcareous marls) gives Nebbiolo an aristocratic, rose-like character with subtle minerality. In the 20th century, the entire town of Faset belonged to the Cocito family of Neive, who held the title of count; today it is divided among several owners.

Michele Chiarlo Barolo Cerequio 2020 is a prestigious wine from one of the most highly regarded crus in La Morra, made from 100% Nebbiolo. It is produced from low yields on calcareous-marly soils, which give it exceptional elegance and structure. It ages for about two years in oak barrels and then in the bottle, offering great aging potential. This is one of the most representative and highly regarded Barolos from producer Michele Chiarlo.
