Product description

The E. Guigal Winery was founded in 1946 by Etienne Guigal in the village of Ampuis, in the heart of the Côte-Rôtie appellation, and has been operating as a family-owned winery ever since.Ampuis and the surrounding area are a historic wine-growing region, with terraced walls dating back to Roman times—the soils here are varied: limestone, sedimentary, and granite, resulting in a diversity of terroirs.Guigal became famous above all for its outstanding Côte-Rôtie wines: La Mouline, La Landonne, and La Turque, which have become icons of the region and have earned top ratings from critics. The Guigal family has consistently expanded its holdings: it purchased m.in.the Vidal-Fleury, Domaine de Bonserine, and Château d’Ampuis vineyards, and also opened its own barrel-aging facility (boisnerie) to have greater control over the oak aging process. An interesting fact is that, although white wines account for only a small percentage of total production in the Rhône Valley, Guigal devotes a relatively large amount of attention to them—about.White wines account for 25% of the winery's production, which is relatively rare in a region dominated by reds.

E. Guigal Côtes-du-Rhône Blanc 2021 is a blend of several classic white grape varieties—m.in.60% Viognier, 15% Roussanne, 10% Marsanne, 8% Clairette, 5% Bourboulenc, and 2% Grenache blanc, from vines that are on average about.25 years.Vinification takes place at controlled temperatures in stainless steel tanks, without aging in large oak barrels—which helps preserve the freshness and purity of the aromas.Production is carried out with low yields (approx..(35 hl/ha) and selective harvesting of the grapes, which increases the concentration of aromas and the quality of the grapes. What makes this wine unique is that it showcases the potential of white grape varieties in the Côte-du-Rhône at an affordable price point, combining freshness, complexity, and elegance in a balance rarely found in this appellation.

Appearance
In the glass, it reveals a light golden color—clear and shimmering—suggesting exceptional clarity. The color remains stable and attractive, with a subtle greenish hue at the rim of the glass.

Aroma
The nose is dominated by Viognier aromas—white acacia blossoms, peach, and apricot—with hints of white flowers and nectarine.Subtle notes of herbs, honey, and a delicate minerality can be detected in the background.

Flavor
On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, fruity, and elegant, with a balance between juiciness and good structure. The finish is clean, with notes of citrus and white fruit and a subtle mineral touch, without being overly heavy.

Culinary Pairings
This wine pairs perfectly with appetizers—seafood salads, fish carpaccio, or delicate vegetable tarts. It also pairs well with Asian cuisine, sushi, white fish in cream or herb-based sauces, and light, spicy dishes
