Product description
Château Cazebonne is an estate in the Graves region of Bordeaux with a history dating back hundreds of years.Currently led by Jean-Baptiste Duquesne, the project focuses on organic and biodynamic farming and the revival of old, forgotten grape varieties. The estate comprises several plots with varied soil types—ranging from gravelly to clay-limestone—which give the wines a wide range of terroir expressions. The winery uses natural yeast, practices minimal intervention, and uses a limited amount of sulfur during bottling.
Château Cazebonne Les Parcellaires “Astéries de Darche” 2019
This vintage is 100% Merlot , grown on a very distinctive gravelly terroir where limestone bedrock emerges at a depth of 1–3 meters. The wine aged for 5 months in amphorae, which gives it a delicate patina and combines freshness with maturity. It’s already a “gourmand”—delightfully alluring, but it also has the potential to develop further. The 2019 vintage is regarded as the moment when the Cazebonne project truly began to stand out and attract attention in Bordeaux.
Appearance: In the glass, the wine displays a medium-intense ruby color with garnet highlights; it is clear and shows no signs of cloudiness.
Aroma: A rich bouquet of cherries, black currants, and wild berries, complemented by earthy and mineral notes and a subtle hint of dried herbs.
Taste: Medium- to full-bodied on the palate, with smooth tannins, well-integrated acidity, and a mineral character; a long-lasting finish with a hint of smokiness and a touch of saltiness.
Food pairings: It pairs perfectly with dark meats (lamb, venison), herb-roasted poultry, aged cheeses (e.g., Comté, Tomme), or grilled dishes with hints of Provençal herbs.
