The Spice King blended malt made its debut in 2005.The original 5-year-old version was soon replaced by an 8-year-old version, occasionally supplemented by limited-edition 12-year-old releases.
In 2015, due to increasing difficulties in sourcing properly aged whiskey, the company discontinued its aged editions.Spice King Formula (Eng..“The King of Spices” lists 16 whiskies from four regions—the Highlands, the Lowlands, Speyside, and Islay—with Talisker at its core.The Spice King presented here is bottled without an age statement, unfiltered, and with an alcohol content increased to 46%..In the fall of 2020, the company updated the whiskey’s packaging to a more contemporary and decidedly eye-catching design (the whiskey itself remained the same).
Aroma: malty and spicy, black pepper, vanilla, lemongrass, a pinch of allspice, apples, pears, orange peel, hints of peat and oak.
Flavor: black pepper, a blend of dried herbs, lemon zest, buttered toast, salted nuts, green apples, notes of licorice and oak.
Finish: medium-long, with notes of pepper, barley malt, caramel, a hint of vanilla, and a fading smoky note in the background.
