Product description
Thomas Hine, a 16-year-old Englishman, arrived in Jarnac (Cognac region) in 1791.
His father was a great lover of local brandies, and Thomas wanted to learn the secrets of their production. In time, he married the daughter of a local producer and in 1817 changed the name of his father-in-law’s family business to Thomas Hine & Co. Today, the company is run by the sixth generation of the Hines and produces excellent cognacs, as well as owning 173 acres of vineyards in the heart of Grande Champagne, the most distinguished wine-growing district in the Cognac region. In 1962, Queen Elizabeth II granted Maison Hine a Royal Warrant, guaranteeing it the status of exclusive supplier of cognac to the British court. Hine VSOP is a blend of eaux-de-vie from the Grande Champagne (60%) and Petite Champagne (40%) growing districts. The brand is currently owned by EDV SAS; the VSOP version has been on the market as H by Hine since 2017.
