Redbreast 18 Year Old / 46% / 0.7l
- "The idea was to have something to fill the gap. But because we are blenders, it is not a 15-year-old who is three years older, nor a 21-year-old who is three years younger. We wanted to create something that would stand out on its own."
Product description
Redbreast is an iconic single pot still Irish whiskey whose roots date back to the early 20th century. The brand was created by W&A Gilbey, a London wine and spirits merchant, who began bottling whiskey under the Redbreast name in 1912. The name refers to the robin (English: Robin redbreast), a bird symbolizing Ireland, but the owner was also fascinated by birds. At the time, it was a pure pot still whiskey, distilled using the traditional method from a blend of malted and unmalted barley. This is the first Redbreast whiskey to be matured in Cream Sherry casks. Triple distilled in traditional copper stills, the whiskey was matured in a combination of bourbon, Oloroso Sherry, Cream Sherry and ruby Port casks. This is the first whiskey of the brand to be matured in Cream Sherry casks, which come from the Antonio Páez Lobato cooperage in Jerez, Spain.
