Product description
Loch Lomond Distillery, based in Alexandria (southern Highlands), is the only Scottish distillery producing malt and grain distillate in the same building.
It is equipped with one pair of traditional stills, three pairs of Lomond stills, a pair of continuous distillation columns and one Coffey column. It is no wonder that Loch Lomond's portfolio includes both single malt, single grain and blended whiskey. Loch Lomond Single Grain is a completely unique whiskey. It is distilled exclusively from malted barley, but not in a traditional still, but in a Coffey column, which according to regulations places it in the single grain category, not single malt. Loch Lomond Single Grain is available on the market in "peated" and "unpeated" versions, the former being advertised by the producer as "floral and smoky".
Nose: peat smoke, breakfast cereals, vanilla, caramel, green apples, blackcurrants, black pepper, traces of pine needles and oak.
Palate : smoky malt, green apples, lemon jam, vanilla, candied fruit, graham crackers, pepper, anise and oak.
Finish: medium long, with notes of peat smoke, vanilla, apples, pepper, dried herbs and oak.
