- Don Papa Masskara rum is a beverage distilled in traditional alembics and infused with calamondin (calamansi) fruit, a hybrid of sour mandarin and Japanese kumquat.
Product description
The Don Papa brand name is a tribute to a historical figure who fought for the liberation of the Philippines from Spanish rule in the late 19th century, Dionisio Magbuelas, commonly known as Papa Isio.
The brand was created by Stephen Carroll for the Bleeding Heart Company. It boasts the world's first single island rum from the Philippines. Don Papa Masskara rum is distilled in traditional pot stills and infused with calamansi fruit, a cross between sour mandarin and Japanese kumquat. The whole is complemented by the addition of honey and chili pepper of the siling labuyo variety, grown in the Philippines. Its bouquet offers expressive accents of citrus, honey, candied fruit and notes of sugar cane.
