Product description
Glenmorangie A Tale of Ice Cream is the fifth edition of the limited edition “A Tale of…” series, created by Scottish distillery Glenmorangie. This unique single malt whisky is inspired by the flavours of ice cream parlours and aims to capture the sweet, creamy essence of desserts through unusual maturation in high vanilla barrels. The whisky is first matured in ex-bourbon barrels and then finished in high vanilla American oak barrels. These barrels have been specially charred to enhance the release of vanillin from the wood, giving the whisky intense notes of vanilla and creamy sweetness.
This being the first time Glenmorangie had used this type of cask, Dr Bill Lumsden, Director of Whisky Creation began to imagine how he could capture the sumptuous flavours found in the ice cream parlour in a single malt, bringing out even more of the sweet and creamy vanillas in the Glenmorangie spirit. After much experimentation, he and Master Blender, Gillian Macdonald created the magnificent Glenmorangie A Tale of Ice Cream whisky that we are tasting today.
Glenmorangie is one of Scotland’s most iconic single malt whisky distilleries, based in Tain in the Highlands. Founded in 1843, it is renowned for its elegant, complex whiskies with a delicate, fruity profile that reflect precision craftsmanship and an innovative approach to maturation. In 2004, Glenmorangie became part of the LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy) group, strengthening its global position but maintaining its family-owned spirit. The name Glenmorangie was inspired by the peaceful countryside beloved by its original founder, farmer William Matheson. Together with his wife, Anne, he decided to build a distillery in the Scottish Highlands. In Gaelic, the ancient language of Scotland, “Glenmorangie” means “Valley of Peace.”
