Product description
Glendalough Distillery, registered in 2011, is named after a glacial valley in the Wicklow Mountains, famous for the monastery founded there in the 6th century by St. Kevin (an outline of his image adorns the label of each of the company's products).
The distillery produces poitín, gin and bottles whiskey, which it purchases from commercial Irish distilleries, mainly Cooley Distillery. The company's flagship product is Glendalough Wild Botanical Gin, whose basic botanical ingredients are juniper, angelica, coriander, licorice, bitter almonds, orris root, common yarrow and orange peel, as well as flowers picked seasonally in the area surrounding the distillery: thorny broom (spring), black elderberry (summer), blueberry (autumn) and sloe (winter). Glendalough Rose Gin debuted in 2018. In addition to the above-mentioned components, its formula includes wild rose petals growing in the Wicklow Mountains, as well as damask rose and Heritage rose, which give the drink a delicate pink color.
Glendalough Rose Gin is one of the most fragrant and floral gins on the market, evoking a summer walk through a flowering meadow. The taste is equally floral, delicate, with subtle notes of juniper, coriander and orange peel and a pinch of pepper. Definitely worth tasting in its natural form, or with a cube of ice.
